2019 - Reach your goals!
For few years now, I have really been into personal development and I wanted to share my vision with you!
In this article, I will do my best to guide you on how to reach your goals this year.
Step 1 - Determine your goals
To reach your goals you need to know exactly what you want. For that, I use the S.M.A.R.T tool.
Each goal needs to be Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Timed.
Write down your goals!
Specific: You have to be really clear when you determine your goal. Start your sentence with “I want”!
Your goal needs to be a must and not a should.
Measurable: You need to be clear and concise when setting up your goal. Precise targets that can be measured over time.
Attainable: A goal needs to be challenging and realistic. Have faith in yourself and be ready to give whatever it takes to achieve your goal. If it was easy, everybody would do it, so be strong and have a realistic plan!
Relevant: Why do you want to reach your goal? You have to determine why you need to achieve your goal because it will give you the energy to succeed. The reason why needs to be as strong as the result.
Timed: Every goal needs to have a time frame, that is a specific point where by it needs to be achieved. Decide exactly when you want to achieve each goal.
Step 2 - Have a plan
Now that you determined your goal, you need to set up a plan to achieve it!
You don’t build a house without a plan, it is essential to know what steps you will need to take to succeed!
Like a business plan, take time to write down your strategies and the different steps to reach your goal.
Step 3 - Take action
Now you have a goal? Now you have a plan? It’s time to take action!
DO NOT procrastinate! I know it’s hard, there is always an excuse but if you want to succeed, take action immediately.
Tell someone about your goal in order to commit to it.
Step 4 - Self discipline
The hardest part is to keep the motivation to continue when time gets harder.
Remember the reason why you NEED to achieve your goal. A goal needs to be a must and not a should. If you are not ready to work hard enough to reach what you want, it is because it is not important enough for you.
