Why we love Peanut Butter Cups
Peanut Butter cup is probably my favourite treat. It tastes delicious. The bitterness of the dark chocolate mixed together with the saltiness and sweetness of the peanut butter is a match made in heaven. I also love anything home-made and healthy alternatives to my favourite treats. Making peanut butter cup at home is easy and require only few ingredients. And most importantly, you can shake things up by adding your favourite ones.
This recipe is another mix and match one. It can be easily customize to your our own taste. You could use milk or white chocolate instead of dark chocolate. You can also switch to any nut butter you like. This treat is your treat and no strict rules should apply. The possibilities are endless.
Tips & Tricks
My peanut butter cups are made with dark chocolate and...peanut butter obviously. I like to ass a bit of sweetener to my filling. My sweetener of choice is maple syrup but honey will do as well. When adding your sweetener of choice, remember to start with small quantities and taste your filling after each addition, so you don't end up with an overly sweet filling. Also be advised that using too much maple syrup might alter the consistency of the peanut butter and make it too runny. Finally, look at your nut butter sugar's composition. Some of them are very sweet and might not need as much maple syrup as advised below.
