Make your own iced-tea at home
Much needed on a hot day, this recipe will get you a delicious pitcher of homemade iced-tea ! How refreshing ?
Iced-tea is definitely my go-to drink during the summer to beat the heat ! Well, when there is heat in the first place … Making it yourself at home requires very few steps and very few ingredients. I am a big fan of simple recipes!
Some swear the secret to a great iced-tea is to brew it cold. I honestly never try it like that. I make my iced-tea with simmering water and I simply wait for it to get cold. But lots of recipe seems to advocate for a cold brew tea. I love how my tea turns out, so if it is not broken, there is no need to fix it, right ? But I’ll definitely try it one day ! In the meantime, make sure to try this recipe and let us know how you like it !
You’ll need very few ingredients to make this recipe.
Your favourite white tea.
The tea is used is a white cherry tea. The smell is gorgeous and it adds a great subtle cherry aroma to the tea. I prefer using withe tea because it has a milder, more balanced and subtle flavour overall.
There is a vast selections of teas out there, so find what works best for your taste buds !
Your favourite sweetener
This step is definitely optional. Personally, for me it isn’t :) ! My favourite sweetener is cane sugar. I went for 2 Tablespoons but add as much or as little as you like. I find that sugar enhance the flavour of the tea.
Add-ins : Fruits & Herbs
Lately, I have been obsessed with nectarine. It is my favourite add-in for my tea at the moment. Then I used slices of lime, lemon and some fresh mint. Go with what you like. The possibility are endless : Basil, rosemary, blueberries, peaches…. Be creative !
Tips & Tricks
Always add your sweetener while your tea is still hot. It will help dissolving the sugar.
Don’t let your leaves steep in the water for too long or you’ll end up with a bitter tea !
