Freeze Dried Fruits - 1 of your 5 a day!

1 of your 5 a day

The first time I heard about freeze dried fruit, I thought it was frozen fruit. That’s why I wanted to write an article to introduce them and try to avoid this misunderstanding!
I discovered freeze dried fruit recently and I just love them! It is a new way to consume your 5 a day in your smoothies, porridge or yogurt.
I will explain to you exactly what freeze dried fruits are, their health benefits and how you can incorporate them into your diet.

Crunchy and healthy!

Freeze dried fruits are dehydrated in a low temperature process which preserves all the nutrients and benefits of the fruits.
They are similar to traditional dried fruits but are crunchier and retain the original flavour of the food due to the low temperature process.
Rich in minerals and vitamins, freeze dried fruits are really rich in fibre, vitamins and minerals. In fact, the freeze drying process keep most of the original nutrients of the fruits and removes the water only.
No additives or preservatives are used to preserve the fruits because the process already removes most of the moisture in the food. 20 grams of freeze dried fruits represent 1 of your 5 a day!

Add them to your smoothie!

You can add freeze dried fruits into everything! They are perfect as an on-the-go snack, in your smoothies or on the top of your porridge or yogurt!

What brands?

We have featured Vera Miklas Freeze Dried Fruits into our box and we absolutely love this brand!

It’s an Irish brand and they propose different freeze dried fruits such as raspberries, strawberries (my favourite!) and a mix of different red fruits. There is no added sugar and they are suitable for vegans.
