Why we love Granola oh na na
From the moment a friend introduced me to granola, I’ve been a fan. That’s when I decided to take my breakfast very seriously. And granola makes the perfect one ! It is also a delicious on-the-go snack or a great topping for smoothies, frozen yogurt or ice cream. I love adding my granola to some yoghurt and fresh fruits. I’m ready to start my day after a breakfast rich in fibers, proteins, vitamins and flavour.
Making your own granola at home is fun, quick & easy. It allows you to control the amount of sugar, oil and the quality of the ingredients (organic food lovers, raise your hands). And most importantly, you can shake things up by adding your favourite ones.
Granola is the perfect mix & match recipe. All you need is your base (an neutral/flavourless oil, a sweetener and oats) and then use any selections of healthy ingredients to make it to your own liking. It’s a fun game to dig into your pantries and mix whatever nuts, seeds and dried fruit you found.
My granola base is made out of jumbo oats, honey and sunflower oil or coconut oil. I then added some cranberries, dark chocolate and a mix of seeds (Sunflower, pumpkin, sesame and golden linseeds).
Tips & Tricks
One piece of advice, allow the granola to cool down before adding the chocolate… I know…It goes without saying ! But one time my impatience made me pour chocolate on top of burning hot granola. It melted straight away (Science).Not a big deal but slightly different from what I had in mind. Now, if you actually want some chocolatey chunks of granola, no need to wait. Just add the chocolate and mix until all the flakes are coated with it.
Also, Granola is basically toasted muesli (fun fact, right ?). So if you’re looking for an even quicker and even healthier breakfast option, leave out the oil and sweetener and voilà !
